MSM Precollege Faculty Union |
Support Teachers at Faculty at the Precollege Division of the prestigious Manhattan School of Music have been struggling to win a first contract for over two years. Despite record numbers of applications, healthy revenues from one of the highest tuition rates in the country, and the ability to buy and furnish a multimillion dollar apartment for its president, Robert Sirota, MSM has refused to agree to a fair wage increase for its faculty. The bottom line of our message to visitors, students, alumni, and donors is that we love our work and want MSM to offer us fair and respectable terms of employment. We seek better working conditions not only for ourselves, but also for our students who may well be contemplating following us in our profession. We hope that contributors will continue to support MSM, but that they will also use their clout and discretion to ensure that faculty pay is among the beneficiaries of the School's fundraising. |
