| The attempt by Manhattan College administration to prevent adjunct faculty from voting on the question of unionization is garnering attention from acadamics and religious affiliates from across the country. The national union of the Manhattan College Adjunct Faculty Union — the American Federation of Teachers — posted an update on its blog and since then more and more people have been signing the petition and contacting the union office with offers of support and assistance. There has been some press interest as well. See http://www.insidehighered.com/news/2010/11/12/manhattan Manhattan College's adjunct faculty aren't exactly looking for lots of attention, nor or they looking for a legal battle, or any kind of battle for that matter. They simply are looking for the opportunity to have a voice and a vote on the question of unionization through a fair and democratic election. |
